5 Rules to Follow When Taking Custom Orders

Most creative businesses offer custom orders, whether it’s a family portrait, a t-shirt design or a cake topper. Not knowing how to handle these orders can make the whole process stressful and, let’s face it, not rewarding.

Custom orders are meant to be a fountain of inspiration for future products so knowing what your rules are will make all the difference. You might be thinking, yeah, but it doesn’t seem like such a big deal for my business.

Here’s a secret, the more you know about your customers, the better. In fact, figuring out your “Ideal Customer Avatar” can literally make or break your world, which is why I am also spending a little time on that subject this week.
